If you find yourself wondering “How can I make $600 fast?” you’re in the right place.
Today you’ll learn a few tried and true methods to start earning and saving money immediately.
And even a few surprising ways to keep the money (and savings) pouring in throughout the year.
Why earn fast money just once, right?
And yes, I know… if you did ALL of these strategies, you’d make WAY more than $600. Probably closer to $2,000-$10,000, so making an extra $600 should be easy.
(For example, you’ll see how I saved over $1,100 just yesterday on my cell phone plan alone)
Let’s get you started!
Sell Stuff – The Easy Way to Make Quick Cash
My wife is a rockstar with selling (and buying) used items.
Just last week she sold a balance-bike (kid’s no-pedal bike) and our twin-daughters first 2 bicycles that they grew out of.
The extra cool thing?
My Father-in-law had just bought the balance bike 3 weeks ago for $5 to help our kids learn to ride a bike without training wheels.
After a week of using it, they learned to ride their bikes (woohoo!) and then my wife sold the balance bike for $20! Hellooo $15 profit / 300% ROI.
Take a look around your house, garage, and storage sheds. We’ve all got piles of unused stuff that’s cluttering our homes and garages.
ProTip: If you’re selling online:
- Do a quick search for competitive pricing.
- Take LOTS of great pictures.
- Write a simple, but compelling description focused on Features AND Benefits.
Craiglist is a great free way to clean out your house and make money quickly. I find it best for bigger ticket items like bicycles, furniture, electronics, etc..
Also, if you’re good at spotting a deal, it’s also a great place to buy something and flip it for a profit.
The downside is there can be a lot of scammers and even some creepers you may have to sort through before getting to a legitimate customer.
Either way, it’s worth a shot— I’ve made (and saved) thousands of dollars through the years on Craiglist.
Non-Local Alternative: Ebay
Sell Clothes on Poshmark
If you’ve got an eye for spotting fashion trends, and want to unload some of your old clothes, this is a great site to check out.
You can routinely sell things for $20-30 or more if you look into what’s trending now on Poshmark.
Browse on Poshmark for ideas and then comb through your closet. It only takes about 10 items to make $300 dollars fast.
You can also look for local vintage consignment stores as an alternative.
Make $500 Fast With Yardsales
Can I get honest with you? I hate hosting yard sales.
But the truth is, they can be extremely lucrative in clearing out a lot of stuff fast.
My Wife (Sarah) routinely brings in $300 to $1,200 from our yardsales. She averages about $500 for a few hours of work.
Don’t overlook garage sales for making $500 fast (or even $1,000).
Thankfully, Sarah and I have worked out a decent team strategy.
I help move and put out all the big stuff, create a craigslist and social media post, and tape up a few signs around busy intersections and she does 98% of the wheeling-and-dealing.
(NOTE: These few extra steps like sign and online posts can make a big difference)
Whatever your strategy, it’s almost always worth the effort.
ProTip: Talk to your neighbors about hosting a community yard sale and you can boost up your foot traffic substantially.
Ps: Garage sales are another excellent place to buy things cheaply and resell on Craigslist, eBay, or even amazon for a nice profit.
Sell Locally on OfferUp & Facebook Marketplace
OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace are the latest alternatives to Craigslist.
In fact, more and more my family has moved our used buying and selling to these places.
In the last week, we’ve casually sold around $200 worth of items just laying around the house.
What you’ll like:
You’re much more likely to get a face and name attached to the person wanting to buy from you as well as a rating system for sellers.
This weeds out scammers and creepers (looking at you Craigslist!) much more efficiently. Which saves you tons of time (and fear for your life?!).
If you haven’t checked these places out yet, they’re excellent! We’re selling items faster, with less hassle and low-ball offers.
You can easily make an extra $600 in a week or less here.
Sell Unused Giftcards on Cardpool
Dive into your purse and clean out your junk drawers!
This is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money fast with what you’ve already got.
We’ve all got gift cards that Aunt Bertha gave us to some crappy restaurant or clothing store we’re just not into.
Use Cardpool to turn these these into cash or amazon giftcards. Cardpool pays up to 92% of the face value.
Here’s the simple process for a $50 Olive Garden gift card that you can exchange for $32.50.
Spend 10 minutes, and you’ve probably got enough gift cards lying around to make a cool $100 or more.
Combine this with a few other tips on this page and you’ll answer “How can I make $600 fast?” in a few quick hours today.
Find those gift cards!
Next up is the most overlooked way to make immediate money by saving.
Negotiate More Money Now
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
You’ve heard it, and it’s often true.
Those who speak up, and ask, get more deals and discounts than those who take every price at face-value.
Companies LOVE the quiet ones who keep paying and never try to negotiate.
But guess what? Companies also spend hundreds of dollars acquiring new customers and do NOT want to lose them.
The same thing goes for hiring talent at companies… except the cost of hiring and training team members can be into the thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. So companies REALLY want to keep their top performers.
Being armed with the right information (like competitors’ prices) can save you hundreds of dollars per year.
The first time I negotiated (and switched) car insurance companies, I saved over $900!
With a few hours, you can easily save and make $200-$500 today.
Take a look at how:
Negotiate Your Bills (or switch services)
- Cell phone plan (check out the huge savings I just got below!)
- Bank Fees
- Credit card fees and Interest rates
- Car Insurance
Each of these is a great place to start.
It’s not rare for someone to save $1,000 with a few emails, calls, or with a quick website chat.
One quick example, I noticed my internet service provider was offering a “new customer intro special” that was $20 lower per month than what I was paying.
What the heck?! I’ve been with you for years and you reward my by charging higher prices? No thanks!
It took me around 20 minutes to negotiate this down and save $240 per year. (even if I only saved this for one year that works out to $720 an hour!)
Similarly, I felt I was paying too much for car insurance, and was grossly over-insured. 2 hours of price shopping and phone calls and switching to Geico saved me over $900 per year ($75+/month).
You can do the same. There’s a good chance you have $1,000-2,000 of “free money” that you’ll continue to save ongoing!
That’s what I love about negotiating bills. One call can save you money for YEARS.
If you were to invest a $1,000/y savings, in 10 years it would compound to almost $15,000!
That’s a great return for only a few hours of work.
Key points to negotiating your bills:
- Know competitor’s prices
- Let them know you’ve been a loyal customer for X years
- Ask the representative how they can help you eliminate the fee
- When they say they can’t help, let them know you’re aware it costs hundreds of dollars for their company to get new customers, and you’d prefer to stay with them, but you need a fair price (or fee removed) otherwise you’ll have to switch
- Ask for the customer retention department or cancellation department— and repeat the above steps. (This is how I got my Internet price cut down)
- Enjoy the extra “found” money in your budget 🤑
How I Just Saved Over $1,000 (per year) On My Cell Phone Plan
Paying $50-80 per line on your cellphone? You’ll definitely want to check this out.
I’ve been meaning to change cellphone plans for a while. I used to think I needed unlimited everything (specifically data) so years ago my wife and I got Verizon’s unlimited plan.
After all the fees (that seem to keep going up every month) I was paying $146.16 per month for 2 lines. 😵
And since I was writing this article I knew I needed to negotiate this down, but there was a problem…
I couldn’t get Verizon on the phone (yesterday) and the online chat department doesn’t handle my kind of cases… AKA: they aren’t allowed to switch customers from normal (read: expensive) plans to their better priced prepaid plans.
Plus they only want to give the best pricing to “new activations”— great for them, not for me, a longtime customer.
Fine. I’m a research nerd, I’ll figure out my own way around this.
That landed me on Mint Mobile.
They run on T-mobile’s network, offer unlimited talk and text, and their data is priced incredibly (12gb data per month for $25/m if you pay for the year).
[Sidenote: YES, I was able to bring my iPhone (11) to the plan and keep my number]
Since almost all of my cell phone use is at home right now and on wifi I barely use any data. So I decided to test the waters with their cheapest plan at $15 per month per line with 3gb data.
When I get busier in the outside world again, I’ll upgrade my plan or data— you can do this at any time.
And if it turns out I don’t like the plan, I can simply leave. Mint Mobile is prepaid, so no contracts, no cancellation fees, nothing holding you back.
Here’s the TOTAL bill for 3 months of cell phone-ing for 2 people $100.86!
3 months, for LESS than what I was paying for 1 month. So. Stinking. Awesome.
So in 3 months’ time I’ll have almost $350 extra in my bank account.
And it only took a few minutes to sign up online.
Check out their plans and see how much you can save today.
Hate To Negotiate? Use TRIM or Cushion
Negotiating yourself can help you get the lowest rates possible, however, there is the opportunity cost of using your own time to save money instead of earning more.
Or maybe you flat-out don’t want to mess with it— that’s fine.
Here are your automated solutions.
These two companies work by securely connecting with your bank account and credit cards to monitor savings opportunities.
They negotiate on your behalf! They charge small annual or monthly fees or take a percentage of the money they saved you (Trim).
But their business model is set up so that overall, you pocket the most money, and massively reduce fees and overpayment.
Cushion Focuses on getting Bank Fee & Credit Card Fees Refunded
- Overdraft Fees
- ATM Fees
- Monthly Service Fees
- Credit Card Interest Charges
- Late Fees
- Wire Transfer Fees
- Foreign Transaction Fees
Trim Negotiates Fees, Bills and Cancels Unwanted Subscriptions
- Medical Bills
- Phone plans
- Cancel Unwanted subscriptions
- Credit Card Interest Charges
- Credit Card APR rates
- Bank Fees
- And more
The best part is that they “save you money while you sleep”. Set them up, and let these companies do the work for you.
This next one has the potential to make you hundreds of thousands over your lifetime.
Ask for a Raise or Promotion
I go into this in more detail in my post on How to Become Independently Wealthy under the section “Negotiate a Raise” where I show how a friend got a 40% raise.
The important part is to know you’re likely leaving THOUSANDS on the table if you haven’t negotiated a raise recently.
My most recent personal example was negotiating an $8 an hour raise for a TV show I was working on (I do practical Special Effects in the Motion Picture industry).
In the 2 month run I was on that show, I grossed an EXTRA $3,520 (plus received extra retirement account money).
If I didn’t say anything, I would have never gotten that money.
And going forward, it is much easier for me to get paid peak rates since I can refer back to past jobs and shows of earning a higher scale.
You can do this. Check out my post linked above for more details.
And remember, a raise or promotion is a negotiation that keeps paying for years or decades.
Outside of investing and starting a business, this is typically your greatest longterm money-making strategy.
It can net you an extra $1,000,000 over your career when you put that extra money to work in growing investments.
If all else fails: you can always switch careers. Here’s a massive list of jobs that pay $30 an hour or more without a college degree. And here are 27 jobs that pay $100 an hour.

Surveys, Saving Apps and Get Money Back Sites
The truth is, you’re already going to spend money every month. And if you shop online, why not get money back for it?
Here are a few sites that give you cash-back, or search discount codes for you automatically.
Will you earn $600 in a week? Probably not, but if you combine a few of these with some of our other tips, it will get you there a lot faster!
Rakuten (Formerly Ebates)
You’ll typically earn 2% back, with specials as high as 4% and even 10% back.
You can often get a free $10 signup bonus as a promotion. Check them out now.
Get similar benefits when shopping in-stores with Shopkick.
Swagbucks & Surveys
Similar to Rakuten, Swagbucks offers cash back on purchases for places you already shop online.
They also offer Swagbucks points that are redeemable for gift cards to places like Target and Walmart or redeem them for money via Paypal.
You can earn these points by taking surveys, watching videos online, and searching online.
Here are some additional options:
Always find yourself spending 15 minutes looking for coupons and discounts online before buying stuff? I’ve been there.
No one wants to overpay… but who wants to search for hundreds of discount codes a year.
Well, Honey will do it for you. They search the web and test every possible discount code—live— right before you click the final “pay” button on a website.
I’ve been using Honey for a few years and have often saved a quick $10 on purchases for literally no work! Over time, it adds up. I’d estimate I’ve saved $500+ in 3 years using it.
Earny and Paribus Price Protection
Ever made a purchase and seen an item go on sale the very next week?
That happened to me recently, and I didn’t know about these services.
I had to jump through a ton of hoops. Return the expensive items to get my money back… repurchase the items and wait 10 days for them to ship to me (meaning, I didn’t get to use the products during that time!).
These two apps monitor your online purchases with a lot of the major retailers and then work to get you a refund if the items go on sale shortly after.
So much easier than what I went through.
I could have saved $200 that month and not had to do anything for it. Just sign up.
Ok, we learned saving money can keep major amounts of money in our pockets right now.
And that’s a huge win… but it’s time to jump back into strategies to make you money fast.
Side Hustles and The Gig Economy
Turn your skills, passions, and free time into money-making services.
According to Gallup, in 2018 more than 36% of US workers had a gig or side hustle of some type. And it’s expected to rise to over 43% in 2020.
While not every side hustle will be your dream job, they can be a quick source to make an extra $1,000 or more each month.
And with a little experimenting and ingenuity, you can find the right side hustle that you actually enjoy and can scale up for more profit.
(Note: not all side hustles are created equal— make sure to track your expenses and time to ensure you’re making a real profit.)
A lot of small companies want to stay lean, and only hire for what they truly need.
This is where micro-tasks and mini-freelance jobs come in place.
While many of these places focus on online jobs and skills like graphic design, video editing, research and writing, others take a hands-on approach.
You can find local jobs and tasks doing things like planting flowers, assembling a desk, or moving furniture upstairs.
Here are a few screenshots showing just some of the side hustles and tasks you can start doing today to make $600 dollars fast.
Below are some great places to start small, test your skills, start building systems—and ultimate— get money rolling in.
Rideshares, Delivery, Dogwalking and other Hands-on Services
Ridesharing, food, grocery, and package delivery, and even dog walking services can be an excellent place to start making some extra cash.
The people who make the most with these gigs typically combine several of them to maximize their dollars per hour and help offset any expenses (think things like gas, vehicle wear and tear).
If you can drive a rideshare customer and then deliver a package while you’re waiting for your next customer, you’ll make more money and have less idle time.
Here are a few local services you can start with:
- Doordash (Food delivery)
- Instacart (Grocery shopping and delivery)
- Rover (Dog walking and doggie daycare)
- Roadie (Local and national package delivery)
- Uber (Ridesharing and food delivery)
- Sittercity (Babysitting)
From pool cleaning, lawn and garden maintenance, and snow-shoveling you can earn extra money right in your own neighborhood.
These aren’t just ways to make $600 dollars fast as a kid. Sure, you can make hundreds of dollars pretty quickly and be done, but many people have turned seasonal jobs into full-blown businesses down the road.
I found this online commenter who earned $350 in 2 days shoveling snow with very little equipment.
Check forecasts or seasonal schedules to be just a little ahead of the competition and you can scoop up a lot of business fast.
Protip: Always ask for referrals! Word of mouth marketing— after doing an excellent job— is your greatest source of new customers when it comes to local side gigs and small businesses.
Freelance to earn $500-$5,000 a month
Honestly, I think freelancing is an excellent way to not only hit your $600 mark but to take it up a notch and figure out how to make $1500 fast. That might sound crazy at first, but it’s much more achievable than most people think.
What I love about freelance work is that you can keep it as small as you want, or scale it up into a full-time job, or even later into an agency.
A while back I pitched my friend Dustin at DustinStout.com to help write his course email launch sequence. After working things out I ended up getting paid $1,600 to write emails and consult on pricing techniques and landing page copy.
I really enjoy copywriting, pricing structures, and customer psychology so this is right up my ally.
Take some time and think about what skillsets you have or can learn from a book or in-depth guide online and mix them with your passions to find your ultimate freelance work.
- Reach out to who you know first. You may have friends or family members who have small businesses or blogs that would love to hire you for help.
- After that, you’re going to seek out other small businesses you’re familiar with or a customer of.
- Last, reach out to people and businesses you aren’t familiar with but would like to be.
And yes, YOU are going to reach out. No one is coming to you when you first start. You’ll need to find the right person’s email address and pitch them.
- Keep your pitch brief. 3 short paragraphs.
- Start with how you know them and how there work has positively affected your life.
- Transition to a benefit they desire that your service offers.
- Let them know you have a service to make that easy for them to obtain.
- Ask if you can call them to discuss and also offer your phone number if they’d prefer to call.
- Don’t mention pricing in the first email.
- Bonus points: Show don’t tell. If you can quickly show how you can help in a 1-2 minute video, record it and send them a private youtube link. This works extremely well and sets you apart from everyone else.
Start small with your pricing.
You aren’t trying to get rich on your first job. It’s ok if the pricing in your first few jobs only nets you $15-25 an hour because you’re building a customer base, getting testimonials, and working out your systems.
You’ll quickly be able to double or triple your pricing with a few great customer testimonials.
Which is why you are going to OVER-DELIVER.
Not only will you do an excellent job, but you’re also going to go above and beyond expectations to create a “wow experience”.
That’s how you create customers for life and get world-class testimonials that will make getting future jobs a cinch.
Get started today and you can make $500 fast in your first 1-2 weeks, and easily scale it to several thousand a month if you want.
Rent Your Stuff
If you’ve got a car, an RV, a spare bedroom, or even a bike laying around you can start making extra money renting them out.
Unless you live in your RV or trailer, you likely only get to use it a few weeks out of the year, so why not turn that expensive depreciating asset into a mini cash-cow?
I have some friends who buy c-class RVs solely for the purpose of renting them out for a few years, sell them, and then repeat with a newer gently used one.
There are a lot of great websites that can help you earn $50-$500 a day renting stuff out you’re not using.
And then there’s your house (or even some apartments)…
In my neighborhood, people rent their backhouses (“Granny houses”) for $1200+ a month (Southern California real estate can get pricey)!
We have other friends who rent their backyards out for weddings and photography ranging from a few hundred dollars to thousands depending on the event and customer’s needs.
Maybe you don’t have that kind of space, but can you rent out your spare room or a converted garage? Or can you crash at a friend’s place and AirBnB your entire place for the weekend?
Sure, you may not want to do that every weekend, but if you really need to make an extra $600 fast, this can get you there.
Here are a few places to look into for renting out what you’ve already got!
- Turo Rent out your vehicle.
- RVShare Rent your RV.
- Airbnb Rent a room, granny house, or your entire place.
- Vrbo Rent out your entire place. Better for week-long vacation rentals.
- Spinlister Rent your bike (I even saw a surfboard for rent here!)
